In his farewell speech, outgoing Deputy IGP Ayob Khan urged PDRM to uphold integrity and dignity, warning against corruption and abuse.
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, in his farewell message today, urged all members of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to uphold the integrity and dignity of the force.
He reminded officers and personnel not to tarnish the good name of the institution built on the blood, sweat and lives of fallen comrades.
“Do not ruin this force for personal interest, do not sell your dignity for money, do not use power to oppress the weak, and never forget that behind every police badge we wear, there are people expecting justice,” he said.
Ayob Khan delivered this speech during the handing-over of duties ceremony between him and Bukit Aman Special Branch Director Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus, who was appointed Acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police effective today, at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL). Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail witnessed the ceremony.
Ayob Khan, who officially retires today after nearly 35 years in PDRM, also urged members to hold firmly to the values of integrity, not only when observed but especially when no eyes are watching.
“It is not about who we are when praised, but who we are when no one is looking. Remember, humans may not see, superiors may not know, but Allah always sees,” said the outgoing 29th deputy inspector-general of police.
Born in Kota Setar, Kedah, Ayob Khan said his service in PDRM was more than a career and that the force taught him the meaning of courage, loyalty and sacrifice.
“I know what it feels like to leave family behind for the call of duty, to work under pressure, and I know what it feels like when sincere service goes unappreciated. However, never stop doing what is right because Allah SWT never lets sincere deeds go to waste,” he said.
During his career, Ayob Khan held several key positions, including in the Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Division, as Johor Police Chief, Director of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, and Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department, before being appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police in June 2023.
