IGP praises outgoing Deputy IGP Ayob Khan as principled leader with integrity, unwavering in upholding rule of law.
KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail described Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay as a brand of leadership laden with commitment, firmness and integrity throughout his more than three decades of service in the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
He said Ayob Khan was a principled leader who did not waver easily in upholding the rule of law.
“Personally, Ayob Khan’s presence as a deputy is a gift that is not only as a senior assistant, but also as a loyal comrade who stands firm by our side in weathering storms and challenges to uphold the dignity of the Sang Saka Biru (PDRM).
“I greatly appreciate every sharing of bittersweet and hard work throughout our time steering the ark of PDRM,” he said at the handover of duty ceremony between Ayob Khan and Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus.
Ibrahim, who is the director of Bukit Aman Special Branch, was appointed as the Acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police starting today.
Mohd Khalid said that throughout his almost 35 years of service in PDRM, the former graduate of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia has proven his authority in various critical positions, especially the Special Branch, leading the Johor Contingent, the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, the Criminal Investigation Department, before ending his service as the 29th Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
“His determination in combating militant elements and safeguarding integrity should be a role model for the entire team leadership,” he said.
Throughout his career, Ayob Khan has held various important positions, including in the Special Branch, the Counter-Terrorism Division, Johor police chief, director of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), and director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) before being appointed as Deputy Inspector-General of Police in June 2023.
In the meantime, he also congratulated and extended well wishes to Ibrahim on his appointment as Acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
“I have full confidence that Datuk Seri (Ibrahim) is capable of shouldering this trust with full dedication to strengthen the team’s top leadership machinery.
“Continue this legacy of excellence for the well-being of all PDRM personnel,” he said.
