MOE is stepping up preparations for the Year Four Learning Matrix rollout, which commenced this year, to ensure smooth implementation.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is stepping up preparations to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the Year Four Learning Matrix, which commenced this year.
In a written reply posted on the Parliament website, the MOE said the policy framework and direction for the implementation of the Learning Matrix had been finalised and agreed upon at the ministerial level.
“The MOE is committed to ensuring that the Learning Matrix is implemented in a planned, transparent and systematic manner through the cooperation of all stakeholders, in line with efforts to strengthen the quality, inclusiveness and effectiveness of the national education system,” it said.
The ministry said this in response to a question from Senator Baharuddin Ahmad on the latest status of the Year Four Learning Matrix implementation and preparations made to ensure students’ readiness.
The MOE said the assessment format and instruments had been prepared based on the Standard Curriculum and Assessment Document (DSKP), covering four core subjects, namely Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics and Science, as well as Chinese and Tamil for Year Four students sitting for the assessment from Oct 6 to 8.
To ensure standardised implementation, the ministry has also prepared the Learning Matrix Management Guide, which covers student registration procedures, preparation of assessment materials, examination staff management, reporting requirements and quality assurance mechanisms.
In addition, the MOE has conducted training and engagement sessions with state education departments (JPN), district education offices (PPD), schools, parents and stakeholders, while also holding operational briefings and expanding announcements through its official portal and social media platforms.
The ministry said that, to enhance understanding among all stakeholders, documents related to the Learning Matrix had also been made available on the official portal of the Examination Board, including frequently asked questions, engagement session presentation materials, instrument formats and sample assessment items for the 2026 Year Four Learning Matrix.
“This implementation is expected to provide responsive, reliable and evidence-based information to support improvements in teaching and learning, facilitate more targeted interventions and guide the formulation of education policies based on the needs of students and the education system,” the MOE said.
