PH will use three-day campaign period to defend seats in Negeri Sembilan state election, says Chow Kon Yeow.
GEORGE TOWN: Pakatan Harapan (PH) will use the three-day campaign period of the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election to intensify its efforts to defend the seats won in the 2023 polls.
Penang PH chairman Chow Kon Yeow said that based on visits and surveys to several areas in Negeri Sembilan, voter support was very good, but admitted that there were still several areas that needed more efforts to strengthen support.
“I cannot comment on the whole of Negeri Sembilan because I have only been to a few locations, but the response we have seen is mixed, there are areas where support is good and there are also areas facing voter mobilisation issues.
“I believe the Negeri Sembilan PH team will use the time available to defend the seats that PH held before the dissolution (of the State Assembly ) and hope that we will be able to add a few more seats,” he said here today.
Chow, who is also a member of the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC), told reporters after a visit to the Mi Equipment factory in Bayan Lepas Industrial Estate, near here.
The Negeri Sembilan polls witnessed 103 candidates vying for 36 state seats with voting for 867,151 regular voters set for this Saturday.
In the 15th Negeri Sembilan polls in 2023, PH won 17 state seats, followed by Barisan Nasional (14) and Perikatan Nasional (five).
