Melaka implemented over 200 initiatives to improve integrity, governance, earning second best in MACC corruption study.
MELAKA: The Melaka government has implemented more than 200 initiatives to strengthen integrity, transparency and good governance, thus reinforcing its commitment to building public confidence and attracting investments.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the initiatives had translated the state’s commitment to integrity into concrete action, resulting in Melaka being recognised as the second best-performing state in the Public Service Corruption Level Study conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“Here in Melaka, we firmly believe that good governance begins with integrity. It is not merely a principle that we advocate, but a value that guides the way we govern, serve our people and build confidence among investors, businesses and the international community,” he said.
Ab Rauf said this in his welcoming address at the dinner held in conjunction with the 22nd ASEAN-PAC Secretariat Meeting here today.
Also present were MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman and Melaka State Secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad.
Ab Rauf said the recognition reflected the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, improve public service delivery and establish a government that is more transparent, accountable and responsive to the needs of the people.
He said that among the key measures introduced was the Melaka Anti-Corruption Plan 2022-2026, aimed at identifying corruption risks, strengthening preventive measures and enhancing integrity across the state administration.
He added that the state had strengthened transparency in public procurement through the Melaka Online Tender System (STOM), a centralised digital platform for tender and quotation notices, company registration, document purchases and the publication of procurement information.
“We will continue to introduce stronger policies, improve governance and ensure that integrity guides every decision we make in Melaka.
“This is in line with Malaysia’s aspiration of becoming one of the world’s top 25 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index by 2030,” he said.
