Former JPKK chairman pleads not guilty to RM40,000 CBT charges

A former JPKK chairman in Jerantut faces two criminal breach of trust charges involving RM40,000, with bail set at RM5,000

KUANTAN: A former Village Development and Security Committee chairman was charged in the Sessions Court here today with two counts of criminal breach of trust involving RM40,000.

Mohamed Sahimi Wan Ishak, 63, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before Judge Sazlina Safie.

The former JPKK chairman of Mat Daling, Jerantut, was accused of misusing money entrusted to him by a logging company representative for payment to the Mat Daling JPKK.

The alleged offences occurred at a law firm and the logging company’s office in Jerantut on July 7, 2022 and April 18, 2023.

The charges were framed under Section 406 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, whipping and a fine upon conviction.

The court granted Mohamed Sahimi, who works as a rubber tapper, bail of RM5,000.

He was ordered to surrender his passport and report monthly to the nearest Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office.

The court also prohibited him from intimidating witnesses in the case.

Deputy public prosecutor Ezuain Farhana Ahmad from MACC prosecuted the case.

Lawyer Ahmad Syamsul Akmar Yusof from the National Legal Aid Foundation represented the accused.

The court set January 13 for mention of the case. – Bernama
