Chelsea boss Maresca keeps perspective after Barcelona Champions League win

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca insists “nothing has changed” for his team despite their impressive 3-0 Champions League victory over 10-man Barcelona.

LONDON: Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca insisted “nothing has changed” for his team despite their stunning 3-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona.

Tuesday’s triumph at Stamford Bridge kept Chelsea on course to reach the competition’s last 16 following a superb attacking display.

Teenage winger Estevao scored a brilliant individual goal, slipping inside defender Pau Cubarsi before gliding past Alejandro Balde and unleashing an unstoppable shot.

Chelsea had taken the lead through a Jules Kounde own-goal before Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo was sent off in the first half for a second bookable offence.

Liam Delap added Chelsea’s third goal, his first since their pre-season Club World Cup triumph, ahead of Sunday’s clash with Premier League leaders Arsenal.

“It’s a big win, especially because it was Barcelona, but nothing’s changed in terms of what team we are and what we can achieve,” said Maresca.

His side will cut Arsenal’s lead at the summit to three points with another victory at Stamford Bridge.

He added: “Now we focus on the next one. The feeling was very good. At home with our fans, it’s way nice to share this kind of moment.”

“Now, next 48 hours completely switch off, have a rest, recover energy. We need to keep the momentum. It’s much easier to recover energy when you win games.” – AFP
