MACC records statement from woman in viral Albert Tei video as part of corruption investigation involving PM’s former aide Shamsul Iskandar
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has recorded a statement from the woman featured in a viral conversation with businessman Albert Tei.
The woman arrived at the MACC headquarters at 2.30 pm accompanied by her lawyer R Shugan and remained there as of 8.00 pm.
This forms part of the investigation into the Prime Minister’s former senior political secretary Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
MACC confirmed it has contacted Shamsul Iskandar, who is currently in Sabah and will provide his statement tomorrow afternoon.
MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus confirmed these developments when contacted.
Earlier reports indicated MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki directed officers to complete the corruption investigation within two weeks.
Azam Baki cited the seriousness of the case involving Albert Tei and Shamsul Iskandar. – Bernama
