Trump calls female reporter ‘stupid’ in latest media insult

US President Donald Trump called a female reporter ‘stupid’ during questioning about Afghan vetting, continuing his pattern of insulting women journalists.

WEST PALM BEACH: US President Donald Trump called a female reporter “stupid” on Thursday during questioning about Afghan refugee vetting.

The incident occurred at his Florida estate where Trump was fielding questions about Wednesday’s shooting of two National Guard soldiers near the White House.

“Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person?” Trump said, cutting off the reporter mid-question.

The reporter had asked why Trump blamed his predecessor Joe Biden for security lapses when some administration officials said resettled Afghans were thoroughly vetted.

“Because they let them in,” Trump snapped while holding up a picture of a crowded US military plane during the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.

He added that refugees came “along with thousands of other people that shouldn’t be here, and you’re just asking questions because you’re a stupid person.”

This continues Trump’s pattern of particularly targeting women journalists with personal insults.

On Wednesday, he called a New York Times female author “ugly” after she wrote about his age and signs of fatigue.

Earlier this month, Trump referred to one woman journalist as “piggy” and another as “a terrible person.”

Insults and brash talk have become trademarks of Trump’s political style throughout his presidency. – AFP
