MACC denies gunpoint allegation in businessman’s arrest

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission refutes claims that officers pointed a firearm during Albert Tei’s arrest in Puchong, calling the allegation defamatory.

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has confirmed arresting businessman Albert Tei at his Puchong home.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki stated the arrest followed standard procedures.

He firmly denied claims that officers pointed a firearm at Tei during the operation.

Azam described the allegation as defamatory and confirmed a police report has been lodged.

The report aims to enable authorities to investigate the accusation thoroughly.

It also seeks to prevent the spread of false information that could disrupt MACC’s investigation.

Earlier reports indicated Tei was arrested after MACC officers raided his residence.
