MEDAN: All Malaysian citizens previously reported stranded in flood-affected areas of Sumatra have been confirmed safe.
The Malaysian Consulate General in Medan announced that all individuals have been contacted following severe flooding in Sibolga, Bukit Tinggi and other locations.
Consular assistance continues to be provided to those affected by the disaster.
The Consulate General conducted welfare checks on 135 Malaysian students in Medan impacted by the floods.
Food aid was distributed during these consular visits to ensure student wellbeing.
Malaysians planning to visit affected areas are advised to exercise caution and verify travel status with their agents.
The Consulate General noted that the situation in flood-hit regions is gradually returning to normal.
Local community activities in Medan City are resuming as floodwaters recede.
