Landslide blocks access to Cameron Highlands apartment, affects 700

A landslide near Puncak Arabella Apartment in Cameron Highlands has cut off access for nearly 700 residents, with no casualties reported.

CAMERON HIGHLANDS: Access to Puncak Arabella Apartment was severed following a landslide near Block C of the residential building.

The Cameron Highlands district police received a report about the incident at Jalan Puncak Arabella at approximately 8.30 pm.

“The landslide has cut off access to the apartment area, affecting the movement of nearly 700 residents,” said district police chief Supt Azri Ramli.

Multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene for safety assessments and initial response measures.

These included the Royal Malaysia Police, the Fire and Rescue Department, and the Civil Defence Force.

Azri confirmed in a separate statement that no casualties have been reported so far.

The Department of Minerals and Geoscience was contacted to conduct an immediate soil condition assessment.

The Public Works Department and SMR Selenggar-Pahang Sdn Bhd were also deployed to the location.

Their tasks include road-clearing works and implementing temporary slope-protection measures.

Azri advised the public against circulating unverified information.

He requested that any information be channelled directly to the Cameron Highlands district police headquarters’ District Control Centre.

Information can also be relayed to any nearby police station or district police headquarters.
