All Malaysians evacuated from Hat Yai floods, confirms ministry

Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry confirms successful evacuation of 6,222 citizens from severe flooding in Thailand’s Hat Yai region through coordinated rescue operation.

PUTRAJAYA: The Foreign Affairs Ministry has confirmed the successful completion of evacuation operations for Malaysians affected by severe flooding in Thailand’s Hat Yai and surrounding areas.

A total of 6,222 Malaysian citizens stranded by the devastating floods have been successfully rescued through coordinated efforts.

The evacuation process involved close collaboration between the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok and the Malaysian Consulate-General in Songkhla.

More than 15 non-governmental organisations and Malaysian volunteer groups also participated in the massive rescue operation.

On the final day of the mission, the remaining 12 stranded Malaysians were successfully brought home via the Bukit Kayu Hitam border crossing.

The ministry issued a statement confirming the successful conclusion of the evacuation efforts. – Bernama
