AirAsia restores normal operations after completing EASA-mandated software rollback on A320 fleet within 24 hours of emergency directive
KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Aviation Group has successfully completed all required software rollbacks on its operational A320 Family aircraft.
The work fully complies with an Emergency Airworthiness Directive issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
AirAsia received the emergency directive around 3 am on November 29 local time.
The airline immediately activated its Business Continuity Plan in response.
Completing the directive while maintaining operations required extensive coordination across multiple departments.
Teams from engineering, flight operations, network, ground operations and customer experience collaborated on the response.
The effort involved personnel across Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Cambodia.
AirAsia Aviation Group CEO Bo Lingam stated that safety remains core to guest trust.
“The response was immediate and thorough in this regulator-mandated action,” he said.
Lingam credited meticulous planning and groupwide coordination for completing compliance work within 24 hours.
Engineering teams received support from ecosystem partner ADE during the process.
Operations teams continue working to minimise disruptions for passengers.
“This concerted response reflects the agility, guest centricity and teamwork that define AirAsia,” Lingam added.
Passengers are encouraged to check their latest flight status via the AirAsia MOVE app.
