Red Bull promotes Hadjar for 2026, Lindblad gets F1 debut

Isack Hadjar replaces Yuki Tsunoda at Red Bull for 2026, with Arvid Lindblad promoted to Racing Bulls as Tsunoda becomes reserve driver

RED BULL has confirmed a major driver line-up change for the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Isack Hadjar will be promoted from Racing Bulls to become Max Verstappen’s new teammate at the senior Red Bull team.

He replaces Yuki Tsunoda, who will remain within the Red Bull family as a test and reserve driver.

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies said Hadjar had displayed great maturity and proved to be a quick learner.

“Most importantly, he has demonstrated the raw speed that is the No. 1 requirement in this sport,” Mekies said.

“We believe Isack can thrive and produce the magic on track.”

Hadjar’s F1 debut in 2025 was difficult, spinning off in wet conditions before the race start in Australia.

The 20-year-old Frenchman recovered impressively, securing a maiden podium with a third-place finish at the Dutch Grand Prix.

“I’m so grateful to Red Bull for giving me the opportunity and trust to race at the highest level of F1,” Hadjar said.

“After all the hard work I have put in, it’s such a great reward.”

Hadjar’s seat at Racing Bulls will be taken by Red Bull junior driver Arvid Lindblad.

The 18-year-old Briton, currently sixth in the 2025 Formula 2 championship, will make his F1 debut.

Lindblad will partner incumbent Liam Lawson, who is set for his second full F1 season.

Lawson’s improved performances in 2025 will provide a benchmark to monitor Lindblad’s progress.

Tsunoda’s demotion follows a difficult 2025 season after his promotion from Racing Bulls to Red Bull.

The Japanese driver scored only 33 points compared to teammate Verstappen’s 396, with a best finish of sixth. – Bernama-Xinhua
