UiTM athletes who win medals at the 2025 SEA Games will receive full tuition fee exemption as an incentive and token of appreciation.
UNIVERSITI Teknologi MARA (UiTM) will grant full tuition fee exemption to its athletes who win a medal at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
UiTM Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr. Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin said the incentive is a token of appreciation for the sacrifices and commitment of the 42 student-athletes representing the country.
“If they succeed in winning a medal, the university will grant a tuition fee exemption until the completion of their studies, regardless of their level or campus,” he told reporters after the contingent’s send-off ceremony.
He said the university’s support also includes initial financial assistance as pocket money and the provision of training facilities.
Shahrin added that UiTM opens opportunities for potential athletes to become students through an equitable admission system, accompanied by academic and sports guidance.
“Intensive training, regular monitoring, and guidance through the mentorship programme will continue to be provided,” he said.
The 44 UiTM athletes, including two university staff, are part of the 1,166-strong Malaysian contingent competing across 50 sports from December 9 to 20.
