Five Malaysian universities to host ASEAN University Games 2026

UiTM, UM, UPM, UPNM and UKM will be the main venues for the ASEAN University Games 2026, featuring 25 sports from December 10-20

KUALA LUMPUR: The ASEAN University Games (AUG) 2026 will be held in Malaysia from December 10 to 20.

The Ministry of Higher Education announced five main universities as competition venues for the event.

The selected venues are Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

A total of 25 sports will be contested across the various university venues and sports centres.

Focus sports include football, athletics, swimming, and hockey.

Other events feature silat, taekwondo, karate, judo, chess, archery, sepak takraw, ten-pin bowling, and squash.

The AUG is the premier university-level sports event for ASEAN nations, first held in 1981 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Malaysia has been the overall champion twice, winning in Kuala Lumpur in 2008 and in Vientiane, Laos, in 2012. – Bernama

Vets win Asia Cup gold medals

SULTAN Ahmad Shah Malaysian Veterans Hockey Association players achieved a rare double by winning two gold medals at the World Masters Men’s Asian Continental Championship 2025, held at the Hong Kong Sports Club from Nov 25–30. Six nations compete in RSC youth football event

Over 1,200 young footballers will compete in the upcoming 19th edition of the Royal Selangor Club (RSC) – Datuk Chu Ah Nge International Junior Soccer Tournament slated for today and ends on Dec 7 at the grounds of the RSC Bukit Kiara Annexe. This year’s tournament will also feature teams from Singapore, Maldives, Indonesia, Nepal and Malaysia, said organising committee chairman Datuk Gerald Rakish Kumar.
