Kedah MACC detains MP over RM400,000 cattle farm land bribery

Kedah MP detained by MACC over alleged RM400,000 bribery linked to state cattle farming project land rights.

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kedah has detained a Member of Parliament yesterday evening for charging purposes after obtaining approval to prosecute in a case involving the state government’s cattle farming venture.

According to sources, the investigation launched in February this year centres on allegations that approximately RM400,000 was received as gratification to help secure land usage rights for a feedlot project.

“An investigation paper was opened following a report received on February 10, 2025, and investigations have been conducted during which 15 witnesses have had their statements recorded,” one source revealed.

The case involves a collaborative cattle farming initiative owned by the Kedah state government, with the alleged bribery aimed at facilitating access to land for the feedlot operations.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki reportedly confirmed the arrest, stating that the individual had their statement recorded under Section 53(3) of the MACC Act 2009 and was subsequently released on bail.

The detention marks a significant development in the ongoing probe into alleged corruption linked to state government agricultural projects.

Further details regarding the charging process are expected to be announced in due course.

The MACC has neither disclosed the identity of the detained MP nor provided additional specifics about the cattle farming project at this stage of the investigation.
