Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim launches two initiatives to strengthen social safety nets and empower grassroots communities with MADANI values
PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched two key initiatives under the people’s development agenda today.
The Sahabat Penggerak MADANI programme and the People’s Welfare Insurance Scheme (SIKR) 3.0 aim to strengthen the social safety net and empower grassroots communities.
Both initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to well-being based on MADANI values and an inclusive social protection system.
The launch was part of the concluding day of the three-day Rancakkan MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku Programme and the National Convention on Public Service Reform 2025.
Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof attended the ceremony alongside Cabinet ministers and senior civil servants.
Sahabat Penggerak MADANI are individuals trained by the Malaysian Academy of Nationhood to become awareness agents for government policies at the grassroots level.
SIKR is a government initiative to provide insurance coverage for the poor and hardcore poor registered in the eKasih database.
After the launch, Anwar held a walkabout session to mingle with participants and visitors in the exhibition area.
The Rancakkan MADANI programme is a continuation of the government’s annual tradition of reporting directly to the people.
Concurrently, the National Convention on Public Service Reform 2025 brought together policy thinkers from the civil service and industry.
The national-scale programme organised by the Prime Minister’s Office successfully attracted 304,107 visitors over two days, exceeding its 300,000 target. – Bernama
