Ipoh police impound 30 bikes and arrest 12 in Ops Samseng Jalanan, issuing over 250 summonses for traffic, vehicle and drug offences
IPOH: Thirty motorcycles were seized for various traffic offences during an integrated enforcement operation here today.
The operation, dubbed Ops Samseng Jalanan, was conducted along Jalan Pasir Puteh near Station 18 from midnight until noon.
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the operation involved personnel from the state traffic police, the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Department of Environment and the National Anti-Drugs Agency.
A local man was arrested for reckless and dangerous riding under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Authorities issued a total of 158 traffic summonses during the operation.
They also issued 82 JPJ summonses and notices, plus 11 compounds and notices from the Department of Environment.
A total of 115 motorcycles and 82 cars were stopped for inspection.
Officers checked 335 individuals aged between 15 and 42 years old.
Eleven locals, including a 16-year-old boy, were arrested after testing positive for drugs.
They will be investigated under the Drug Dependents (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.
Noor Hisam said the Perak traffic police will continue periodic integrated operations to strengthen enforcement against street thugs.
“This is part of the State Contingent Police’s efforts to reduce road accidents and curb street crime in Perak,” he said. – Bernama
