Flood victims in Perak drop to 680 people, while Selangor’s count remains at 40. Two rivers in Perak are still at dangerous levels
KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims at temporary relief centres in Perak continued to decline on Saturday night.
The Perak State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported 680 people from 195 families were sheltering at centres in three districts as of 9 pm.
This figure is down from 934 people recorded earlier in the afternoon.
Hilir Perak recorded the highest number of evacuees at 344, followed by Manjung with 190 and Bagan Datuk with 146.
Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage reported two rivers remained at danger levels.
Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong recorded 3.82 metres against a normal level of around 2 metres.
Sungai Slim in Slim River measured 25.45 metres compared to its normal level of 23.50 metres.
In Selangor, the flood situation remained unchanged with 40 victims from 13 families.
All evacuees are housed at a single temporary relief centre in the Kuala Selangor district. – Bernama
