Flood evacuees in Perak fall to 487 people, while Selangor shelters 51 as some centres close and others remain open due to ongoing inundation.
KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in Perak housed in temporary evacuation centres (PPS) has dropped this evening.
Meanwhile, Selangor has recorded a slight increase in evacuees.
In Perak, the total number of victims fell to 487 people from 140 families.
They remain sheltered in six PPS across the Hilir Perak, Manjung, and Bagan Datuk districts.
This is a decrease from the 613 people from 174 families reported this morning.
The Hilir Perak district recorded the highest number with 188 people from 50 families in three PPS.
Manjung houses 157 people from 45 families in two PPS.
A further 142 people from 45 families are still at the Dewan Kompleks Belia dan Sukan Bagan Datuk PPS.
Victims have not been allowed to return home as their residences remain inundated after three weeks.
The Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Sungai Rubana PPS in Hutan Melintang was fully closed at 2:30 pm today.
It had previously housed 74 people from 19 families.
In Selangor, the number of victims at the PPS rose to 51 people from nine families this evening.
This compares to 38 people from 12 families this morning.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s disaster info website, the victims are at the Dewan Serbaguna Komuniti Orang Asli Gombak PPS.
They are residents affected by a landslide caused by heavy rain in Kampung Orang Asli Batu 12, Gombak, last Wednesday.
