PUTRAJAYA: Investigations into the fatal police shooting of three men in Durian Tunggal, Melaka, will follow the legal process, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.

He stated a special team from Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department would examine all evidence, including allegations raised by the suspects’ families.

“The committee will record statements, including from the family member who spoke to the lawyers about the existence of an audio, and so on,” he told a press conference.

Saifuddin assured the probe would be conducted transparently and professionally.

The special team has already recorded statements from seven witnesses, including three family members and four medical officers.

Police shot dead the three men, aged between 24 and 29, on November 24.

A police corporal was seriously injured in his left arm after one suspect allegedly swung a machete during the 4.30 am incident.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the suspects were believed to be en route to rob a premises.

He stated the gang was active in crime since 2024 and believed responsible for robberies involving losses worth RM1.35 million.

The families have disputed the police account, prompting the internal investigation. – Bernama
