Negeri Sembilan attracts RM2.7 billion in Chinese and Indian investments

Negeri Sembilan secured RM2.71 billion from China and RM22.8 million from India from 2020 to mid-2023, creating over 1,100 jobs

SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan government recorded investments from China and India amounting to RM2.71 billion and RM22.81 million, respectively, from 2020 to June 2023.

State Industrial and Non-Muslim Affairs Action Committee chairman Teo Kok Seong said the investments were based on reports from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

Investments from China involved 18 projects, providing 1,115 job opportunities, while those from India were in two projects for the same period.

“The state MIDA office is always active in engaging with investment agencies via organising domestic and foreign investment promotions, seminars and roundtable discussion sessions with potential investors,” Teo said during the state assembly.

He added that meetings are also held with organisations and companies from China and India that have the potential to invest in the state.

Teo was replying to a question about the state government’s achievements in attracting industrial investments from the two countries.

He also said the focus on industrial development in eastern Negeri Sembilan is in line with state planning, which prioritises the agropolis sector.

Although there are not many factories along the main road, an organic fertiliser production factory in Jempol is nearly completed with an investment of nearly RM100 million.

“Additionally, there is the largest investment project, the F&N Dairy Farm, worth RM1.8 billion, which shows the state government’s continued commitment to driving the development of high-impact industries,” he said.

He said this development proves efforts to strengthen the industrial sector in the eastern part of the state are proceeding according to plan. – Bernama
