A fire in a Segambut condominium that killed a 38-year-old man has been ruled an accident, with police finding no criminal elements.

PETALING JAYA: Police have ruled out any criminal elements in a fatal condominium fire in Segambut.

The fire on the 26th floor claimed the life of a 38-year-old part-time artist who lived alone.

Brickfields police chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook said the case has been classified as sudden death.

“Forensic investigators and the Fire and Rescue Department’s K9 unit revisited the scene to assist with the probe, and no criminal elements were detected,” he said.

The victim was last in contact with his family at 2 pm on Saturday.

He was found with burns all over his body on the unit’s balcony and pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre confirmed the cause of death as severe burns.
