Two Kubang Pasu policemen injured in expressway crash with lorry

Two police officers from Kedah were hospitalised after their car was hit by a lorry on the North-South Expressway near Taiping

TAIPING: Two police officers from the Kubang Pasu headquarters in Kedah were injured in a collision with a lorry on the North-South Expressway this morning.

The accident occurred at KM 212.3 of the southbound expressway near Taiping at approximately 7.50 am.

Taiping district police chief ACP Mohamad Nasir Ismail said a lorry travelling from Johor to Parit Buntar skidded into a police Honda City.

The 25-year-old police driver sustained head injuries and cuts.

His 44-year-old passenger suffered injuries to the head and body.

Both officers were taken to Columbia Hospital in Taiping for treatment.

Mohamad Nasir said the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving.

“Police are calling on any witnesses to the accident to contact traffic investigation officer Inspector V. Gunalan at 012-627 3761,” he said.
