A 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit the North Molucca Sea, 131 km east of Bitung, Indonesia, with no tsunami threat to Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 struck the North Molucca Sea at 8.21 pm.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the quake’s epicentre was located at 1.5 degrees North and 126.4 degrees East.
It occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres, approximately 131 kilometres east of Bitung, Indonesia.
MetMalaysia confirmed there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia from the earthquake. – Bernama
