Strong 6.5 magnitude earthquake strikes Papua New Guinea

A powerful 6.5 magnitude quake hits Papua New Guinea’s Goroka region, with no tsunami threat to Malaysia, according to MetMalaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 struck the Papua New Guinea region today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the quake occurred at 6.31 pm, 43 km north of Goroka at a depth of 10 km.

The department confirmed there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
