Two traffic police officers were injured in an apparent explosion in southern Moscow, near where a Russian general was killed by a car bomb days earlier.
MOSCOW: Two police officers were injured in an incident in southern Moscow near the site of a senior general’s killing earlier this week.
Russia’s Investigative Committee stated it was establishing the circumstances of the event that injured two traffic police officers.
The committee said investigators were inspecting the scene and conducting forensic analysis, including medical and explosive examinations.
Russian television broadcast images showing the area cordoned off with a large police presence.
Witnesses quoted on television described an explosion occurring around 1:30 am local time.
The incident took place near where Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was killed on Monday.
Sarvarov died after an explosive device placed under his parked car detonated.
He had been the head of the Russian General Staff’s training department.
Since the onset of the Ukraine conflict, Kyiv has been blamed for attacks on Russian military officials and pro-Kremlin figures.
Kyiv has claimed responsibility for some attacks but has not commented on Monday’s incident.
