Perlis Pakatan Harapan pledges support for the existing state government to remain in power until the end of its term, prioritising stability and administrative continuity.
KANGAR: Perlis Pakatan Harapan (PH) has pledged its support for the existing state government to remain in power until the end of its term.
In a statement, Perlis PH said government stability is a primary necessity for a small state like Perlis.
This support is to ensure administrative smoothness and to save government finances by avoiding waste caused by political uncertainty.
It also respects the mandate legally given by the people via a valid democratic process.
“Perlis Pakatan Harapan will continue to stand with the existing state government, the Institution of the Monarchy, and the interests of the people to ensure Perlis is governed peacefully, stably, and with dignity until the end of the administrative term,” Perlis PH stated.
The statement follows media reports alleging that Perikatan Nasional (PN) state assemblymen had met with the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail.
Reports suggested a majority had expressed a loss of confidence and withdrawn support for Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.
Perlis PH views that any internal political turmoil must stop immediately.
“Open conflict only weakens the administration, tarnishes the state’s image, and disrupts the government’s focus on managing fundamental issues for the people,” the statement read.
The party said the state government’s priority should be fully focused on economic development and the people’s welfare.
This includes addressing job opportunities, the cost of living, and the sustainable progress of the state.
It called on all parties within the state government to prioritise consensus and orderly discussion in resolving any differences.
“Mature, prudent, and responsible politics are the keys to the stability and progress of Perlis,” according to the statement.
The state leadership must also be respectful toward the Institution of the Monarchy, which serves as a main pillar of the state’s stability.
