A three-year-old girl was rescued from a 90cm-deep pool at an MBSP theme park after lifeguards performed CPR. The child regained consciousness.
BUKIT MERTAJAM: A three-year-old girl was rescued from a children’s pool at the MBSP Theme Park, Sports and Recreation Complex in Jalan Betek.
The Seberang Perai City Council confirmed the near-drowning incident occurred at about 5 pm yesterday.
Lifeguards on duty quickly detected the child and removed her from the 90-centimetre-deep pool.
First aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, was administered immediately in line with standard procedures.
Emergency assistance from security agencies and medical personnel was promptly requested.
Due to the swift response, the child regained consciousness before the Fire and Rescue Department arrived at 5.20 pm.
The victim was later taken to Bukit Mertajam Hospital for further treatment.
MBSP stressed that visitor safety is its top priority.
Lifeguards are stationed at all pool areas throughout operating hours, with strict safety SOPs consistently enforced.
The council assured that its personnel are always prepared to respond to emergencies.
MBSP expressed concern and hopes the child is in stable condition.
It urged parents and guardians to closely supervise children at all times, especially in water areas, to prevent similar incidents.
