Over one million Terengganu residents benefit from Rahmah sales programmes

More than one million residents in Terengganu have benefited from over 1,000 MADANI Rahmah Sales events, generating RM52 million in sales.

KUALA TERENGGANU: More than one million residents of Terengganu have benefited from state-wide MADANI Rahmah Sales Programmes (PJRM) this year.

A total of 1,026 PJRM events were held across the state from January 1 to December 21.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Terengganu director Mohd Mufsi Lat said the programmes involved about RM14 million in federal government subsidies.

He said sales from these events totalled over RM52 million during the period.

“This year, we still have about 20 more PJRM events to be organised in eight parliamentary constituencies,” he told reporters at the Noor Arfa Craft Complex in Cendering.

The programmes were implemented through five different models including in-premise, open area, mobile, market-based, and campus events.

Mohd Mufsi said over 200 stock keeping units, including food and school supplies, were offered at prices 10% to 30% lower than usual.

He said a special three-day Back-to-School PJRM began today on a larger scale to help families prepare for the new school term.

The event is being held at 13 locations across Terengganu, including the main venue at the Noor Arfa Craft Complex.

Visitor Khairul Affendi Alwi, 38, said he saved about RM300 by purchasing school necessities and groceries.

“My main purpose today was to buy school uniforms and bags for my three children,” he said.

He noted that local beef was sold at RM20 per kg compared to the usual RM35, while chicken was priced at RM6 per kg.

Another visitor, Siti Zailawati Abdul Rahim, 47, said she never misses the opportunity to visit PJRM events for lower-priced necessities.

“With the rising cost of living, people need to be wise in taking advantage of the initiatives provided by the government,” she said.
