Low-lying areas in Pasir Mas and Tumpat are expected to flood from tonight until Dec 30 due to heavy rain and rising river levels.
KOTA BHARU: Several low-lying areas in the Pasir Mas and Tumpat districts are expected to experience flooding from midnight tonight until December 30.
The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre issued the warning following continuous rain alerts and a predicted rise in the Sungai Golok river level.
Flooding is anticipated to affect areas within a five-kilometre radius of the Sungai Golok basin from 12.00 am on December 27.
In Pasir Mas, the at-risk areas include Kampung Tersang, Kampung Lanchang, and Pekan Rantau Panjang among others.
In Tumpat, locations such as Kampung Pak Keral, Kampung Kok Bedullah, and Kubang Sawa are expected to be impacted.
The centre warned that flooding may occur earlier or later than the forecast period.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and follow instructions from authorities.
