Over 104,900 summonses settled, RM7.2mil collected in KL

KL traffic police collected RM7.2mil from 104,900 settled summonses since Nov 1. 19 counters opened

PETALING JAYA: Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) through the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) has recorded approximately RM7.2 million in summons payments since November 1 until yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, revealed the amount involves 104,900 summonses settled over roughly two months.

He noted that public response during the initial opening of payment counters was moderate but remained consistent with daily visitors.

“However, in the past two days, attendance numbers have increased significantly with approximately 5,500 people coming forward to settle their summonses,” he reportedly said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur traffic police station, today.

Mohd Zamzuri explained that his department has opened additional facilities following directives from the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief and JSPT Director to ensure smooth and orderly public transactions.

“Six tents have been set up besides 19 payment counters opened throughout Kuala Lumpur. We’ve also provided mineral water as a basic amenity for visitors,” he said.

Of the total, 11 counters were opened at JSPT Kuala Lumpur, including three dedicated counters for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (OKU).

“Additionally, three counters were opened at Sentul District Police Headquarters (IPD), two counters in Wangsa Maju, and another three in Dang Wangi, bringing the total to 19 payment counters,” he stated.

Mohd Zamzuri expressed hope that all implemented measures would provide the best service to those settling their summonses.

The increased turnout in recent days suggests growing public awareness of the payment facilities and potentially the approaching year-end deadline for settling outstanding traffic offences.
