Man pleads not guilty to injuring participant at pro-Palestine rally

A 32-year-old unemployed man denies punching a fellow participant during the Global Sumud Flotilla rally outside the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man pleaded not guilty to injuring a fellow participant during the Global Sumud Flotilla rally in October.

Isa Hazmi Zulkifli, 32, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with voluntarily causing hurt by punching Mohd Hafizi Nor Azrin.

The alleged offence occurred at about 1.30 pm on Oct 2 in front of the US Embassy here.

He is accused under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of one year’s jail, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

The court set bail at RM1,300 with one surety and fixed Feb 12 for mention of the case.
