SEREMBAN: A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a car driven by a man who tested positive for cannabis.
The fatal crash occurred at KM 23 of Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah.
Kuala Pilah district police chief Supt Muhamad Mustafah Hussin said the 28-year-old victim, a restaurant assistant, was confirmed dead at the scene.
Initial investigations indicate the accident happened when a Perodua Viva, driven by a 23-year-old man, is believed to have lost control.
The car entered the opposite lane while travelling from Seremban towards Felda Keratong.
“The victim, who was on his way home to Senawang, did not have time to avoid the car before being hit,” Muhamad Mustafah said in a statement.
The car driver sustained minor injuries in the incident.
A subsequent urine test found the driver positive for cannabis.
He has been detained to assist investigations under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
