IGP outlines three key priorities for Malaysian police in 2026

The IGP has set three priorities for PDRM in 2026: optimising AI in law enforcement, boosting integrity, and prioritising public and personnel well-being.

KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail has outlined three key priorities for the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to uphold throughout 2026.

He said the force must focus on optimising artificial intelligence technology in law enforcement operations.

The second priority is strengthening professionalism and integrity among personnel to combat corruption and abuse of power.

The third is prioritising the well-being of both the public and police members, aligning with Malaysia MADANI’s values of compassion and responsibility.

“I hope the beginning of the new year will serve as a key catalyst to renew our collective resolve and commitment,” he said in his New Year 2026 message.

Mohd Khalid also reflected on PDRM’s achievements in 2025, which tested the force’s preparedness.

He highlighted the successful handling of major international events like the Asia International Security Summit and Expo.

The security management of the 47th ASEAN Summit in October demonstrated PDRM’s professionalism on the global stage, he added.

The IGP stressed PDRM’s commitment to conducting every investigation transparently, fairly, and prudently.

“This is a manifestation of PDRM’s determination to uphold the truth and reject sceptical perceptions,” he said. – Bernama
