Ministers pledge to strengthen Malaysia’s stability and public well-being in 2026

Deputy PM and ministers commit to reforms in healthcare, law, security and tourism for national stability and people’s prosperity in the new year.

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his Cabinet colleagues have renewed their commitment to strengthen national stability and public well-being in 2026.

In a New Year message, Ahmad Zahid called for the preservation of togetherness and mutual respect to build a more prosperous future.

“I pray that 2026 will bring well-being and prosperity to all Malaysians,” he said on Facebook.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the new year marks a crucial phase for strengthening reforms in the national healthcare system.

“2026 is the year for us to reinforce reforms with discipline and determination to build a healthcare system that is efficient, resilient and future-proof,” he stated.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail pledged to intensify reforms grounded in humanitarian values, justice and integrity.

He said the ministry would sustain its reform momentum to reinforce public confidence in the government.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo urged Malaysians to welcome 2026 with optimism and a renewed spirit for unity.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang called for confidence and a collective spirit to face rapidly changing global dynamics.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said highlighted 2025’s milestones in legal and institutional reforms.

She said efforts would accelerate in 2026 with a focus on effective implementation for the people.

“This includes the tabling of the Malaysian Ombudsman Bill, the Freedom of Information Bill and the Political Financing Bill,” Azalina added.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan noted Malaysia’s stability and international recognition in managing Islamic affairs in 2025.

He said achievements encompassed hajj operations, halal certification and Islamic finance.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sim called for strengthened tourism and culture sectors as economic drivers for Visit Malaysia 2026.

Other ministers conveying New Year messages included Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. – Bernama
