Kelantan JPJ collects RM9 million in fines from enforcement operations

Kelantan’s Road Transport Department collected RM9.02 million in fines from January to November 2025, a 5.55% increase, following extensive statewide enforcement operations.

KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) collected RM9.02 million in compound fines from January to November last year.

Its director, Mohd Misuari Abdullah, said the total of RM9,022,105 marked an increase of RM520,785, or 5.55%, compared to the same period in 2024.

He attributed the rise partly to a 50% compound reduction initiative and the government’s Budi MADANI RON95 programme.

Throughout 2025, the department carried out numerous enforcement operations, including Ops Pemandu Warga Asing and special operations for major festive seasons.

These operations led to the inspection of 200,076 vehicles, with action taken against 58,541.

A total of 116,183 notices were issued for various offences during the period.

These comprised 94,447 summons notices, 5,675 inspection notices, and 12,589 notices for other offences.

In addition, 491 vehicles were seized for various violations.

Mohd Misuari said 32,455 cases were brought to court in 2025.

Of these, 32,423 cases under the Road Transport Act 1987 generated RM2.44 million in revenue.

The remaining 32 cases under the Land Public Transport Act 2010 recorded collections of RM56,500.

He noted the number of vehicles acted against declined slightly by 331, or 0.56%, compared to 2024.

“Enforcement is not solely about punishment, but aims to educate and raise awareness among road users for the safety of all,” he said in a statement.

He stressed that road user awareness and compliance must continue to be strengthened.

This approach aligns with JPJ’s target to reduce road fatalities by 50% by 2030.
