Thunderstorm warning issued for seven states until 7pm

MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in seven states and Labuan, with conditions expected to persist until 7pm tonight.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for seven states and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

The warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds is effective until 7pm tonight.

Affected areas in Perak include Kerian, Larut, Matang, Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak.

In Selangor, the warning covers Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor and Klang.

The alert also involves Jempol and Tampin in Negeri Sembilan, the entire state of Melaka, and several districts in Johor.

The Johor districts are Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru.

Similar conditions are forecast for parts of Sarawak and Sabah.

In Sarawak, the areas are Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei (Pakan and Sarikei) and Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro).

The warning for Sabah involves Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Keningau.
