PAWS hoping for favourable outcome to eviction order
PETALING JAYA: PAWS Animal Welfare Society shelter is hoping for a favourable solution following their submission of appeal against the eviction order to the Petaling Land District Office.
This comes after Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali stepped in to halt the 14-day eviction order by the district officer to the shelter at Jalan Lapangan Ara Damansara.
Azmin said today he will speak to the district office on how to resolve the matter.
PAWS shelter manager Edward Lim said after a meeting with Selangor State Exco Elizabeth Wong and officers from Petaling Land District Office that they have officially submitted their appeal to the authorities hoping either to be allowed to remain at the current site or for the authorities to identify a suitable site for them to move with a more realistic timeline.
He said that they do not know when the District Office would get back to them, but was told it would be as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth Wong who is in charge of tourism, consumer affairs, and environment said that PAWS will be working together with the District Office for an amicable solution.
"I have also asked the Land Office to find out why Sime Darby surrendered the land to the state without resolving the issue of the shelter which has been in existence for the last 28 years," said Wong.
