PADANG BESAR: Perlis people are urged to improve their knowledge and skills to support development efforts to turn the state into a high impact economy generating state by 2030.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said the development plan emphasised the increased productivity, competitiveness, innovation and value-added activities in economic key sectors.
"In order to benefit from the development, people have to be ready with a certain ability or the opportunities will be grabbed by outsiders," he said.
Azlan said this after handing over Padang Besar Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) allowances at Seri Melati Hall, here last night.
He said strategic areas like Kangar would be having an integrated public transport terminal while Kuala Perlis would become a maritime city and Padang Besar the hub of international industry and inland port.
Among the projects to be developed are halal food park, free industrial zone, agro-tourism, international university, cross-border tourism and deep-sea fishing, Azlan added. – Bernama
