Retirees killed in five-storey car plunge
KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly couple, after spending a pleasant evening with friends on Sunday, were killed after their car plunged from the fifth floor of a carpark at the Duta Vista Apartments in Taman Duta.
Paul William Nunis and his wife Mary Nunis nee Mary Rodrigues, both aged 71 were killed instantly when the former who was driving their Perodua Kenari crashed through a wall before plunging to the ground at 8.15pm.
Kuala Lumpur traffic police deputy chief DSP S. Markandan said the couple who were from Pandan Perdana had earlier attended a reunion gathering at the place and were leaving for home when Paul, a former Telekoms Malaysia employee is said to have lost control of his vehicle.
He said the car landed on its roof and both victims were found dead in their seats when police arrived..
Markandan said police also learnt that the couple had earlier parked their car by the road shoulder outside the apartments on arriving at the place.
However, when they decided to return home, Paul had decided to drive the car up to the fifth floor of the apartment's carpark to fetch Mary, who was a Tenaga Nasional pensioner
He said the remains of the couple were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post mortem.
