ROS approves new political party
KUALA LUMPUR: The Registrar of Societies has approved the setting up of a new political party - People’s Alternative Party (PAP) - by former DAP members.
The ROS gave its approval in a letter dated Oct 30.
PAP protem president Zulkifli Mohd Noor is also a former DAP national vice-chairman.
Zulkifli was a 26-year-veteran of DAP but had a massive fallout with senior DAP leaders in 2013 and left the party with other members to announce the formation of PAP.
“An alternative multi-racial voice is needed. There are too few multi-racial parties in the political area,” he said adding the party’s ideology is liberal democracy.
The new party will also uphold the rights of the Malays and non-Malays, and intends to field candidates in the 14th general election.
The official launch of the party will be held in the capital soon, Zulkifli said.
