Teacher pleads not guilty to concealing cash

    KUANTAN: A teacher pleaded not guilty in the magistrate's court today to concealing cash amounting to RM211,844 believed to be stolen.

    Azizin Hamzah, 50, of Sekolah Kebangsaan Gambang here, was charged with committing the offence at the Taman Tas Maybank branch here at 10.16am on April 13.
    The accused, who is from Taman Indera Sempurna here, was charged under the Penal Code which provides for a maximum seven-year jail term or a fine, or both, on conviction.
    Azizin's counsel, Mohd Norazihan Adnan, appealed for the bail of RM5,000 proposed by the prosecution to be reduced to RM3,000, saying his client had to support seven children aged eight to 21.
    Magistrate Noor Zaihan Mohamad Ali allowed bail of RM3,000 in one surety and fixed May 30 for mention of case.
    DPP Fatinah Abu Bakar appeared for the prosecution. — Bernama
