IJM Land Designer Award 2016

THE inaugural IJM Land Designer Award, the iLDA 2016 in search of the next young interior design marvel, came to an end recently. Bagging the Gold prize was Leo Wong Kwan Theng, who took home RM18,000 and a Mac Book Pro, while Silver prize-winner Goh Sow Yee received RM12,000 and an iPhone 6s Plus.
At the prize-giving ceremony, the winners shared how they worked relentlessly over the last two months, busy furnishing a Penduline showroom each, under the theme “Reliving Nostalgic Memories”.
Penduline is the name of the latest residential project under IJM Land’s Bandar Rimbayu township. It is located within the Fauna precinct offering double-storey link homes with gross built-up areas of between 1,771sf and 2,283sf.
EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY
The competition was aimed at providing aspiring interior designers the opportunity to “practise what they learned” at university and, for those already working, to help them become better and more experienced in what they do in terms of ID.
More than 100 entries were received of which only a handful were selected by a six-jury panel, to proceed to the next round of competition. The shortlisted candidates were put through a workshop where they had the chance to collaborate with sponsors that included Philips Malaysia, Jotun Paints and Signature Kitchen. This experience helped them understand and gain knowledge about the products they could use in their entry submissions. Each were then given a RM150,000 budget to furnish their winning (showroom) pieces.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
IJM Land managing director Edward Chong Sin Kiat, who was present at the prize-giving ceremony, said, “When I see how far our two finalists have come from their first submitted design, to now having realised their own personal Penduline showroom, I can rightly say that we have more than just reached our goal.”
There are 625 housing units of various layout designs under Bandar Rimbayu’s Fauna precinct. Prices start from RM689,800. The first and second phases are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2018 and are 90% sold. Phase three, consisting of 244 units, are open for sale.
