Kelly Osbourne's ink gives way to flood of Pulse Orlando commemorative tattoos

WHEN Kelly Osbourne unveiled her latest tattoo on Instagram, dedicating it to the victims of the fatal June 12 shooting in Orlando's Pulse nightclub, the photo went viral. And it seems the star has kick-started a movement.
"I have wanted to get this tattoo for a long time," the TV presenter wrote as part of a lengthy caption that accompanied the photo of her tattoo. "The tragedy in Orlando devastated me and reminded me that every moment of our lives is precious. Every human is precious."
Kelly's tattoo consists of the word 'solidarity' inked across the right side of her scalp, which has been shaved to better show it off. The meaning behind the inking is clear – she finished her caption with the words: "Those of us who embrace and respect freedom stand together, progress together, celebrate together and grieve together. You are not alone."
Since she unveiled the photo, several Instagram users have followed in her footsteps, unveiling commemorative tattoos both large and small in memory of the tragic event, which saw 50 deaths including that of the crime's perpetrator. The symbols are often inked in the colours of the rainbow flag that represents the LGBT movement, and feature a pulse line in homage to the gay nightspot. Popular designs include simple pulse lines or ones ending in a heart, while some are accompanied by the commemorative date. Images are being filed using the hashtags #onepulse, #pulseorlando and #orlandotattoos.
The touching gesture is an impressive statement from the LGBT community and its supporters, and serves as a reminder of the power of ink, and wearing your heart literally on your sleeve. — AFP Relaxnews
