KUALA LUMPUR: As of yesterday, 3,270 illegal immigrants have been detained under "Ops Mega 3.0" since the operation was launched on July 1, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman said 64 employers were also arrested in the operation for employing or harbouring illegal immigrants.
He said 118,176 illegals were detained for various immigration offences since 2016 until last month via 34,426 enforcement operations carried out during that period.
"A total of 3,293 employers who still stubbornly employed or harboured illegal immigrants were also arrested during this period," he said in response to questions from Nurul Izzah Anwar (PH-Permatang Pauh) who wanted to know the measures the government had taken to deal with the influx of registered and unregistered foreign workers. — Bernama
