Assault, three men detained

KUALA LUMPUR: Three men were arrested for taking the law into their own hands after they were suspected of assaulting a car driver at Batu 13, Jalan Puchong (Damansara-Puchong Highway-bound) near here last Friday.
In the 7pm incident, the 39-year-old man, who was driving a Perodua Myvi, was beaten by members of the public for allegedly refusing to stop his car after colliding with a motorcycle.
Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari said after scrutinising a recording of the victim being assaulted which went viral, three men, aged 30 to 40 years, turned up at the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) here yesterday.
"Police are also looking for three more individuals to assist in the probe. Currently, the motorcyclist has yet to lodge a police report," he said in a statement today.
Mohammad Azlin said all the suspects were remanded for four days until Friday to assist in investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code for robbery and causing hurt.
On Jan 19, the car driver was injured on the head after being beaten by a group of men because he allegedly refused to stop his car after colliding with the motorcycle.
The man also lost his personal belongings and documents after being beaten by the group while the motorcycle rider was injured in the ribs and head and is still receiving treatment at the Serdang Hospital.
The 21-second recording that featured the car driver being assaulted by a group of men went viral on social sites since the day of the incident. — Bernama
