KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan went to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office this evening, apparently to give a statement on the general election on May 9, it was learned here.
A post in the Borneo Post Facebook account said Jeffrey, when contacted, said that he was at the MACC office to give a statement but did not elaborate.
A MACC source, when contacted by Bernama, conveyed a similar message.
Earlier, theSun reported that the MACC searched the residence of Jeffrey, the state assemblyman for Tambunan, late last night.
In the general election, Solidariti won two state seats – Tambunan and Bingkor.
As no contesting political party had a majority in the 60-seat Sabah legislative assembly following the election, Solidariti decided to become the kingmaker and expressed support for the Barisan Nasional, which had won 29 seats, to form a simple majority of 31 seats.
Subsequently, Sabah BN chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman took the oath as the new Sabah chief minister.
However, the BN plus Solidariti majority did not last when almost 10 BN state assemblymen from Umno and UPKO left their parties and expressed support for Parti Warisan Sabah led by Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Mohd Shafie was then sworn in as the chief minister. — Bernama
